A bully spreads gossip and hearsay in order to undermine your reputation and diminish your power. If you find out he slandered you, try to confront him.

On the other hand, if a bully is gossiping to you about someone else, show him that you aren't going to play his game.

Responses to a rumor-monger

I don't want to hear it. That really doesn't concern me. I'm not interested in that, and if I were, I would go to him directly. Why don't you go talk to him directly? I'm not going to deal in hearsay and rumors.
