Reorganize Your Finances
If you feel pressured by your financial situation, then maybe there is something you can do about it.
But if you don't want to make any changes, and you can't imagine reducing your current lifestyle, then maybe you aren't ready to take on a bully at work. If that is the case, a new job is probably your best solution.
On the other hand, if you are ready to become serious about achieving independence at work, then it is time for financial retrenchment.

- List potential sacrifices to be made, such as eating out less, canceling cable TV, moving to a less expensive house or apartment, taking cheaper vacations, etc.
- List the benefits, such as being less stressed, playing more with the kids, spending more time outdoors, getting more exercise, etc. - Review your plan with your spouse and kids - Prepare a cash reserve. If it will take more than 4-6 months to build up your reserves, you may need find a new job instead. |
If your family won't support you in trimming the family lifestyle, maybe they don't care if you are miserable in your job. If this is the case, ask them why they feel that way, then decide what to do about it.
