Fourth Sign of Evil Management:
Bully is Part of a Management "Club"
which Sticks Together
Does a bully seem to have full support of the company's owners and top executives? Then perhaps he is a member of the close-knit group of people who control the company.
More often than not, top executives rose to their position by bullying others. They may admire a bully for displaying the types of skills that had led to their own success, such as charm, manipulation and ruthless ambition. And they appreciate the way a bully brutally exploits employees to generate more money for top management.
Once a bully becomes part of the management "club", it will take a near disaster to weaken his power. They will stick together in support of the bully, protecting him at all costs. From their greed-motivated perspective, low morale and high turnover is a small price to pay.
If you complain to this type of biased management about a bully, you are more likely to be called "disruptive" or a "troublemaker". You will be discredited and belittled until they frighten you into compliance. And if you continue to stand up for your rights, they will find a reason to fire you.
If it's any consolation, most bullies will eventually turn on each other in their endless quest for more power and money.
