A Bully is Highly Critical

A bully is perpetually critical of others in
an attempt to dominate, intimidate and control.

A bully is overly critical of others
- He is always looking for something to criticize

- He never acknowledges his role in the mistakes of others

- He criticizes anything not perfect by his standards
A bully diminishes your importance
- He belittles your accomplishments

- He discounts your ideas

- He mocks your feelings
A bully criticizes you indirectly
- He criticizes what you believe in

- He demeans the people who work for you

- He discounts the importance of projects that you are involved in
A bully cross-examines you intensely
- He is never satisfied with your work

- He ignores or misunderstands your explanations

- He ignores the positive results to focus on the negative

- He has an instant negative reaction to your comments or questions
A bully harps on the
negative of your performance
- He reminds you of past mistakes or failures, often several times

- He exaggerates your mistake to make you defensive

- He implies you made a mistake, but won't let you respond

- His criticisms are focused where you are the most vulnerable

- He hits your emotional hot buttons again and again
A bully shows his disapproval
by his impatience with you
- He does something himself rather than waiting patiently

- He never takes the time to teach you how to do something

- He impatiently cuts you off, rather than acknowledging your input

- He makes decisions without getting your input

- He attacks you when you debate his logic

- He becomes impatient and frustrated when you challenge him
A bully criticizes your personality and emotions
- He wants to undermine your self-confidence

- He wants to make you defensive

- Types of questions and comments:
    "What's wrong with you today?"
    "People can sense your mood."
    "You're bringing down the company."
A bully makes you feel inferior and vulnerable
- He wants you to fear his criticisms

- He wants you to crave any praise he gives you

- He wants you to change your behavior in an effort to gain his approval
A bully never allows for unintentional mistakes
- He doesn't believe in honest misunderstandings

- He assumes the worst about any mistake you make
