Classic Bullying Traits:
Anger

A bully uses anger as a major weapon of intimidation. His displays of anger may be soft-spoken and controlled, or violent verbal tirades.

A bully wants you to dread his explosions of temper. He creates fear, then uses it to control you.

How a bully displays anger
- Rants and raves

- Screams and yells

- Soft-spoken anger, barely under control

- Displays hair trigger, ready to explode at the slightest provocation

- Emotionally volatile

- Barks orders with barely contained anger

- Physical aggression, including slamming and throwing things

- Angry gestures, such as pounding on the table
How a bully lies about his anger
- He says: "I'm angry because you screwed up."

- He means: "I'm angry because you won't let me control you."
Why a bully expresses his anger so eagerly
- He ignores his lack of impulse control

- He ignores the value of releasing anger in a mature way

- He says: "I always express anger rather than bottle it up."

- He says: "People who bottle up their anger are hurting themselves."
Why a bully has so much anger
- He doesn't attempt to avoid or diminish his anger

- He never bothers to clarify simple misunderstandings

- He never wants to hear the other side of the story

- He never tries to understand something from the viewpoint of another
