WARNING! Storm chasing exposes you to many hazardous and potentially deadly situations,
including dangerous roads, lightning strikes and flying debris.
Also, real-life storm chasing is nothing like what is shown on TV or in movies.
It primarily consists of driving or waiting, which normal people would find extremely boring.
Best Storm Chaser Web Sites
Great accounts and photos from chasers who spend several weeks each spring
searching for supercells in the Great Plains. Ranging from the best chasers
to one or two who struggle (myself included), but all with a commitment to chase
most of the season and provide web pages with chase accounts that blend descriptions
and photos, giving you the feel of what it's like to pursue this unusual hobby.
Other Chaser Web Sites
These include professional chasers and researchers, sites that emphasize photo and
video sales, and sites with limited Great Plains chase photos and accounts from
the past couple of years. Many of the chasers listed below are among the best,
but their chase logs or season length don't meet the standards of the chasers
listed above, at least in recent years. Nevertheless, quite a few outstanding sites
are in this category and deserve a close look.
